My favorite router in the past ten years has been the Linksys WRT54GS. It's chassis is designed so that it can easy stack with other linksys hardware such as cable modems, but the sweetest feature of it is that it shipped with a ton of unrealized potential until the Open Source community got its hands on it.
Even experienced programmers who are familiar with PHP, and Drupal might stray away from the nuts and bolts of a Linux server running Apache. Developing on a Windows or Mac platform can become very familiar, and a virgin stray into the administration of a Linux box can be time consuming if not outright daunting.
Thankfully however, the benevolence of other technology lovers in the Drupal corner of the Open Source world have given us Turnkey Drupal.
